Centrelink has revised its deeming rates. The New deeming rates will be as follows:
|Family situation||Financial asset threshold||Assessed at old (%)||Assessed at new (%)||Remainder assessed at old (%)||Remainder assessed at new (%)|
|Couple (combined) – at least one person is receiving a pension||$79,600||2.00||1.75||3.50||3.25|
|Couple (each member) – neither person is receiving a pension||$39,800||2.00||1.75||3.50||3.25|
This is welcome news to those pension, aged care members and Commonwealth Seniors Health Card recipients who, from 1 January 2015, have been caught by the extension of the deeming rules to account-based pensions. It may also allow some people who were previously in receipt of the Low Income Health Card to become eligible for it again.
